The Wide Awakes comprises a global, open-source network that radically reimagines the future through creative collaboration. The group connects people, activations, and projects in service of collective joy, liberation, and the shift of cultural consciousness. In 2020, the Wide Awakes mobilized around the world, reshaping conversations around community and expanding what democratic participation looks like. The movement collaborates closely with For Freedoms, an artist-led organization founded by Eric Gottesman, Hank Willis Thomas, Michelle Woo, and Wyatt Gallery. For Freedoms works with artists and organizations to center the voices of creatives in public discourse, model new forms of civic engagement and direct action, and reimagine conversations about politics.
