Jin Gao

Jin Gao is a designer, developer, and researcher passionate about building collaborative tools that enhance decision-making and design. His name, Jin (金), means "gold" in Chinese. He recently completed dual master’s degrees at MIT in Architecture Studies and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. As a Young Climate Prize alum, he continues to develop WeeHive, an IoT-enabled beekeeping solution aimed at supporting ecological resilience in the face of an uncertain climate future.
Initially trained as an architect, Jin expanded his practice into technology to explore how computational tools can support collective design and decision-making. His recent research focuses on augmenting complex decisions through interactive systems, where human users and AI agents co-create strategies in gamified environments. Using the urban context as a testing ground, his work advances new approaches to participatory design, resilience, and public engagement.
“The World Around is, to me, a community that transcends time and space—bringing together some of the brightest minds across the globe, free from the constraints of traditional evaluation systems, and fostering life-long mentorship between senior and emerging generations.”
