A Fulbright Scholar and visiting professor at American universities, Elena Ochoa Foster served for 20 years as tenured professor of psychopathology at the Complutense University of Madrid, undertaking research fellowships at institutions such as the University of Cambridge, supported by the Spanish government. An editor and art curator, she founded Ivorypress in London in 1996, as a publishing house specialising in artists’ books, which has been headquartered in Madrid since 2008. As its chair and chief executive officer, her critical eye has propelled numerous careers, cementing her influence within the art world and beyond. She presided over the International Council of the Tate Galleries for six years and served as a trustee of the Tate Foundation. Since 2017, she has been president of the International Council of the Serpentine Galleries, being an active member of its board of patrons. She is engaged with various national and international institutions, notably the MoMA and the Prado Museum.
