Louise Braverman is an internationally recognized architect driven by a deep passion to create architecture of art and conscience. A Yale School of Architecture graduate and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, she founded her namesake practice with the core belief that compelling architecture can positively affect the way we live. Practicing locally and globally, her studio takes on the challenge to innovate, always seeking impactful aesthetic design excellence in the context of amplified sustainability and community engagement. Built projects include the Centro de Artes Nadir Afonso in Portugal, a museum that encourages public participation with art; the Derfner Judaica Museum in the Bronx, a museum that facilitates multi-generational engagement; and Village Health Works Staff Housing in Burundi,  Africa, a dormitory that is built 100% off-the-grid. Her firm is honored to have received over sixty design awards and invitations to present at seven Venice Architecture Biennales.

The World Around is a unique forum that critically speaks to both the aesthetics and humanity that is vital in architecture and design. The conversation invites us to experience alternative international communities, making distant places seem close and comprehensible. Since these core values fundamentally align with my vision of how I practice architecture, engaging in The World Around continues to enlarge my global perspective as well as that of civic stakeholders everywhere.
