Manuel Herz is an architect whose research focuses on the architecture and urbanism of migration. His design practice, Manuel Herz Architekten, is embedded in research, operating across a range of scales, from the architectural to the urban and the territorial. Its completed projects include the Babyn Yar Synagogue and a memorial place in Kyiv, Ukraine (2021), a hospital in Tambacounda, Senegal (2021), a social housing project with a kindergarten in Lyon (2017), the Synagogue of Mainz in Germany (2010), as well as other projects across the world. Manuel curated and designed the National Pavilion of Western Sahara at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale, and designed the Swiss Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. His projects have won numerous international design awards.
