Young Climate Prize

The World Around's Young Climate Prize was founded in 2022 to support and amplify the next generation of designers advancing bold, visionary projects that build climate resilience worldwide. This biannual prize is open to anyone worldwide aged 13–25, the prize supports self-started innovators whose work actively address and mitigate climate change within their communities. Twenty-five participants are selected to receive one-on-one mentorship from our esteemed Design Champions, while also joining our bespoke Design Academy program. We’re thrilled to announce that Cycle 03 will launch in April 2026 when The World Around will be searching for a new cohort of brilliant 25 Under 25s, young changemakers whose self-initiated projects are making a tangible difference in communities around the world affected by the climate crisis.
Love Ever After

In 2025, Times Square Arts invited The World Around to curate the Love & Design Competition, a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and public engagement. The winning project, Love Ever After by Swedish architect Pernilla Ohrstedt, transformed 40 recycled oyster cages into a striking installation that beautifully merged themes of love, art, and environmental stewardship. The work not only captivated audiences in one of the world’s most iconic public spaces but also contributed to reef restoration, highlighting the potential for design to inspire meaningful ecological and social impact. This collaboration exemplifies The World Around’s commitment to bold, imaginative projects with lasting influence..

Earth Day 2020

In 2020, during the global lockdown, The World Around teamed up with Dezeen for an Earth Day Takeover — our very first fully virtual event. Across a dynamic day of programming, we brought together architects, artists, filmmakers, curators, and critics through Zoom calls, commissioned films, and paired interviews, creating a lively and engaging online space for ideas and dialogue. From intimate conversations to immersive stories, the takeover celebrated creativity, sustainability, and collaboration on a global scale, proving that even in isolation, design and imagination can inspire, connect, and spark action.
Life on Earth

The World Around's first public exhibition, Life On Earth, explored the planetary dimensions of architecture and design.
