Corn Furniture

Natasha Nisa Islami founded Keebon after recognizing the vast amounts of corn cobs left behind after harvest—material that would otherwise be burned or discarded. Together with Steffany Andrea Hosea and Ahmad Yoga Firmansyah, she saw in this agricultural waste a powerful alternative to wood, at a time when her native Indonesia faces accelerating deforestation driven by high demand for lumber.
Since its founding, Keebon has processed over 170 kilograms of corn cobs sourced directly from farmers in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, transforming them into wall panels, chairs, and interior products. The team also works closely with local villagers, involving them in the production of eco-friendly souvenirs from agricultural byproducts—an approach that supports sustainable livelihoods while reducing environmental harm.
The Keebon Team participated in the Young Climate Prize Cycle 02 Cohort, where they were mentored by the renowned design studio Formafantasma.
