A storyteller, writer, and poet, Aziba Ekio is the creative voice behind her multimedia poetry collection “The Color, Green,” and was the recipient of the Jury Prize for The World Around’s inaugural Young Climate Prize in 2023. As part of The World Around In Focus: Radical Repair at the Triennale Milano, she performed a poem titled Abonnema Wharf, centered on confronting the demolition of the Abonnema Wharf—one of Niger Delta’s waterfront communities.

Aziba is a strategist at Technology Media Global with over four years in communications and production experience, leading a team of diverse creatives through imaginative storytelling, data and industry trends.

Aziba emerged as the second runner-up at both the Abuja Literary Society Festival in 2022 and Abuja International Festival in 2024. Her work examines themes such as climate action, social justice, and personal transformation. She is actively in pursuit of stories and social impact projects that will change the world around.

Through The World Around, I've been able to see the world through a different lens, being exposed to ideas and concepts that, prior, would have been alien to me. It's a platform that's bold enough to showcase people doing brave and beautiful things. That, in itself, is worth celebrating.
