Young Climate Prize Award Ceremony
The World Around's inaugural Young Climate Prize recognizes the achievements and potential of three unique young climate activists.
The Young Climate Prize is a hybrid mentorship and award program founded in 2022 by The World Around as a way to support and bridge the relationship between the architecture community and the next generation, whose concerns and priorities are fixed on the problems of a future that they did not create, and yet they will bear the worst of during their lifetime. The prize began with a free, global open call that asked for young people who had dedicated their time and talent to creating their own climate change-focused project in their community. The prize then selected a cohort of 25 under 25, and paired each of them with their own mentor from The World Around's community of former speakers as well as friends and supporters. Each mentor was asked to help amplify and accelerate the impact of the projects.
Between January and March 2023 the whole cohort additionally attended a weekly bespoke academy program of talks and skills workshops, then re-submitted their projects to an independent international jury.
Three winners won the opportunity to travel to New York and present their work and ideas at The World Around’s annual Summit.
