Emanuele Coccia is a philosopher and associate professor at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. He is the author of The Life of Plants (Polity Press, 2018), Metamorphosis (Polity Press, 2021), and Philosophy of the Home (Penguin Random House, 2024), all of which have been translated into several languages. Through his inquiries across media, Coccia has often collaborated with photographers, curators, designers, and artists to contemplate the aesthetics of the contemporary world. He recently co-authored Modern Alchemy (JBE Books, 2022) with Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen; Lettres sur la lumière (Gallimard, 2024), a compilation of philosophical letters on light with photographer Paolo Roversi; and The Life of Forms (HarperCollins, 2024), a book on the relationship between fashion and philosophy with Gucci’s former creative director Alessandro Michele.
