Fernando Laposse
Fernando Laposse is a Mexican designer. In his materials-focused design practice, he uses natural fibers such as corn husks, sisal, or loofah to create furniture and material products, often in collaboration with Indigenous communities in his native Mexico. These projects aim to communicate the complexity of issues such as biodiversity loss, Indigenous rights, migration, and the impacts of global trade on local agriculture. Fernando’s work has been exhibited in the Milan Triennial, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, and the Design Museum in London, and is held in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
