Niklas Bildstein Zaar

Niklas Bildstein Zaar is creative director of Sub, an architecture office co-founded with architect Andrea Faraguna. Based in Berlin, Sub practices design through a synthesis of research, technology, and architecture. With a team drawn from across disciplines and cultures, the office aims to simultaneously address scales spanning time and space, developing a worldbuilding language that turns sociocultural dynamics into immersive environments. Niklas and Andrea are the designers behind the Balenciaga Architecture Program, from the “Raw Architecture” of its flagship stores to its runway show scenographies, and recently designed the stage set for Travis Scott’s Pompeii amphitheatre performance. The office’s collaborators also include Mercedes-Benz, Tate Modern, Palais de Tokyo, artist Anne Imhof, Ferragamo, Mugler, and Kering.
