Biotech Solution

Alinta Furnell and her teammates wearing protective glasses in a lab.

Alinta Furnell is a rising force in material science, pioneering breakthroughs through her Synbiote Lab, where she develops high-performance, engineering-grade biomaterials to replace non-renewable materials. While traditional bio-based materials have often struggled to meet industrial demands, Furnell’s innovative use of bio-waste creates sustainable alternatives that not only match but can outperform conventional materials in advanced applications.

Her vision for a circular supply chain reflects the crucial role of materials in combating the climate crisis and reimagining the future of sustainable design.

Alinta was part of the Young Climate Prize Cycle 02 Cohort, where she was mentored by Hella Jongerius, the internationally acclaimed design legend known for redefining materiality and pushing the boundaries of craft, color, and sustainability
