GreenQuest

Children doing arts and crafts at a community climate education session hosted by GreenQuest.

Grace James, a Nigerian member of the Young Climate Prize Cycle 02 Cohort, is the founder of GreenQuest, an innovative platform that uses gamification, storytelling, and augmented reality to educate young people, small enterprises, and communities about climate change and sustainability.

Through both video and board games, GreenQuest places players in climate-related challenges, ranging from waste reduction to conservation and sustainable development. As players progress, they earn rewards that translate into real-world impact, empowering them to take tangible action in their own communities. Already, the platform has reached more than 1,500 children directly and engaged over 2,000 participants virtually, while its gamified waste-reduction challenges have led to the removal of over 1,000 tons of plastic waste from local environments. By making learning interactive and fun, Grace is addressing critical gaps in climate education while fostering inclusive spaces for action. Grace was mentored by Liam Young, the Australian speculative architect and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Known for blending design with science fiction, Young creates films and immersive experiences that explore the social and environmental implications of emerging technologies and climate futures. His work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, MoMA, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, among others. Under his mentorship, Grace expanded the narrative and experiential dimensions of GreenQuest, strengthening its ability to inspire not only climate action but also climate imagination.
