Ana María Gutiérrez

With a passion for building with earth, Ana María Gutierrez embarks on a journey to make visible the abundance of raw materials and cultural expressions found in the Colombian Territories. She discovered the power of action and community building by creating Organizmo—a Research Center for Regeneration and the exchange of intercultural knowledge in the outskirts of Bogota. Moved by the fragile power of local knowledge and resources, Ana María creates experiences around research for the development of Sustainable Habitats. Aware of the need to recover vernacular architecture in rural areas of Colombia, she becomes an explorer and creator of possible worlds, new paradigms of spatiality where infrastructure is an invitation to dialogue with the more than human world, and the creation of woven architecture containing new rituals.
Ana María earned her BFA in architectural design from Parsons School Of Design in New York City and a MPS (master in professional studies) ITP from New York University.
“Regeneration is the process by which the structure and function of living systems altered from their natural balance are restored. We recognize it as an urgent and necessary process for our species, in Colombia and worldwide, with the intention of exploring and sharing tangible experiences of social, cultural, and ecosystem regeneration. The World Around has supported the interconnectivity of these practices and given us the opportunity to share our path.”
